Joan Osborne - Little Wild One (2008)

“I have been unfaithful,” confesses Osborne at the top of “Hallelujah in the City,” which opens her sixth album, but the beloved she’s addressing turns out to be New York, the Kentucky-born artist’s adopted hometown. Amid chiming mandolin and folk-rock electric guitar, Osborne’s sturdy voice rises in the track’s climactic moments to gospel-like conviction. Later, “Can’t Say No” features muezzin-like yodels, riding atop a galloping, banjo-centered groove.

Groove Armada - White Light (2010)

Twelve years on from their debut LP, the At the River-featuring Northern Star, Groove Armada are hardly the cool cats they were when chill-out compilations cluttered record store racks and every high street bank, car manufacturer and holiday operator wanted a slice of their sun-kissed ambient magic to soundtrack the flogging of their own wares. 2002’s Lovebox, the duo’s fourth LP, began their commercial decline, but despite slipping out of mainstream affection this year’s Black Light collection reminded listeners that Andy Cato and Tom Findlay are capable of much more than a few throwaway dancefloor fillers and laidback, coffee-table concoctions.

Moby Last Night 2008

Last Night is the eight studio album by American electronica musician Moby, released on 29 March 2008. The first single in the UK was "Alice", and in Europe was "Disco Lies" and the second single is "I Love to Move in Here" followed by "Ooh Yeah".
On his official website, Moby stated that this album is "a lot more dance-oriented and electronic than my last few albums, probably as a result of all of the DJ'ing I've been doing lately". He also wrote that:
Last Night is basically a love letter to dance music in New York City. What I love about the New York approach to dance music is the eclecticism and the open minded-ness on the part of the musicians, the DJ's, and the people in the bars and clubs. In making Last Night, I essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in New York City and condense it into a 65 minute long album.
The album was recorded in Moby's home studio in Manhattan, New York and features a number of guest vocalists, including Wendy Starland, MC Grandmaster Caz (one of the writers of "Rapper's Delight"), Sylvia from the band Kudu, British MC Aynzli, and the Nigerian 419 Squad.
On November 3, 2008 in the UK and November 25, 2008 in the U.S., a remix album of Last Night entitled Last Night Remixed was released.

Why the music is our passion?

Local music breaks down the barriers of language and ethnicity. Music is a universal language, which uplifts the spirit and helps to make friends.
People all over the world identify with music. The essence of ancient cultures lies in music, and if we are lucky, we can experience a bit of it.

Music reminds you of the people you met along the journey. Like a little romance I had with the girl from Holland captured perfectly by Natalie Imbruglia while we were waiting for the bus. It was a bittersweet farewell.
She promised to phone me, lying naked on the floor. (It never happened…)

Music shortens those long hot and smelly journeys in the back of a crowded bus. Music can drown out the noise of a big city. Listening to your favorite tracks can enhance the experience of seeing a natural or man-made wonder for the first time.
Make that “touristy” spot, a piece of your own travel memories without the camera-toting holidaymakers. For me it was Moby at Victoria Falls in Zambia.

Music makes the world a little more interesting. It helps your thoughts and imagination to be a little bit more creative.
I was sitting at the Stockholm train-station, and I was listening to Vaya Con Dios’s Don’t cry for Louie. I saw this shady guy with a trench coat and dark glasses, and he had two tarty looking women with him.
Pimp and prostitutes. I saw Louie. I had the urge to walk over to one of the women and ask her to sing for me, in that lovely low and sexy voice. The fear of a slap in the face, and possible arrest for public disturbance stopped me.
And Louie would have been pissed off.
